Vintage Christmas Monday

Hello, and welcome to another Vintage Christmas Monday, hosted by dear Joan of http://thepottingshed-anythinggoeshere.blogspot.com/ . thank you Joan for hosting this great event! Lookie here at these wonderful cards I just received in the mail! I purchased these from sweet Kris over at http://krislhurst.blogspot.com/2009/11/christmas-greetings.html She had them pictured on her blog, and I wrote to her, and asked if she could make me some. Well, she very kindly obliged, and I am so glad she did. They are just adorable! Each image is separately cut out and put on each card, and is just so nicely made. Attention to every detail. They are not small either. They are a 5x7 size, and come with envelopes. I think I am going to make a banner with them. The images are so bright, I just LOVE them. Thank you so much Kris! She has her own Etsy shop too, so check it out. You can click on any image to make it bigger. This sweet image I found on someones blog. Sorry I can't remember who it was. This was a book, that has been passed down in the family, and Santa's suit is done in velvet. I just loved the image.
These little cuties were a thrift find. the little plastic roofs were all yellowed, and most of the glitter gone. Well, I brought them home, and with a little TLC, and a new coating of glitter, I think they look really cute! Inside, the figures are hard plastic, with little sprigs of plastic holly.
This pretty figurine is Napco Christmas angel I purchased on e-bay. They can be quite pricey, so I will watch for them year round.

Well, I hope you enjoyed looking at my Christmas goodies. I am glad that Joan is extending the party til Dec 31, so we can catch up on any posts that we missed. Please visit her blog to see the other participants on the right of her sidebar. thanks so much for coming by, and have a very Merry Christmas!!

Vintage Christmas Monday and My First Giveaway

Hi, and welcome to Vintage Christmas Monday, hosted by Joan of http://thepottingshed-anythinggoeshere.blogspot.com/2009/12/reminders-for-vintage-christmas-monday.html. This is also my first official giveaway! I decided this giveaway would be perfect for today, because you all obviously love vintage Christmas things. I'm giving away this set of vintage Christmas lamps! They are in great condition, all intact and working! The outside is covered in a mesh like material, and with little angels on the side. If you would like to have them, please leave your e-mail address where I may contact you if you are the winner. Just leave me a comment to enter. I will except all comments through Dec 15th, then I will select a winner. Good luck! Next, I would like to show you this set of Christmas figurines made by Lefton. I bought them from e-bay. They seem to be a very popular item.

These I found at a flea market this past summer for $1 each. They are made of plastic, and can be hung on the tree. The one on the left has a tag on it that says Japan. the Santa is a very soft plastic. I thought they were kind of neat.

Thanks so much for coming by for a visit. I am going to miss these posts for Christmas. I love visiting everyone, and seeing your vintage Christmas goodies. Don't forget to stop by Joan's and visit all of the other participants to see their vintage Christmas items.

Special Memories from Christmas

Hello, and welcome to our first pink theme Saturday hosted by Beverly of http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/12/pink-saturday-december-5-2009-a-pink-giveaway-and-christmas-around-our-home-day-six.html Thank you so much Beverly for hosting this special event. The idea is to share one of your favorite memories of Christmas. Well, one of my fondest memories of a childhood Christmas was baking cookies with my mom. Sorry I am a little late today.

Here are all of my moms original baking things, that bring back such wonderful memories for me. These things date back to the 50's (yes, I'm old) lol or older. These were the aluminum measuring cups, and bowls that we used to make these delicious cookies for Christmas. The wonderful smells, and the Christmas music playing in the background while we baked.

These are one of the kinds we would make. They were called Molasses Crinkles. You would roll them into a ball, and sprinkle a few drops of water on them, before popping them into the oven. That is the trick to giving them the crackle effect. Oh, I can just smell them now. (sniffling a tear)

These were somewhat of another kind we made. Christmas wreaths made with the cookie press that ejects the dough. She would carefully squeeze them out onto the baking pan, and then place a few little pieces of candied cherries for a bow on top. I don't have the original dough press, but I wish I did. :( She stored them all in round cookie tins, and stacked them in the dining room next to the buffet, so we wouldn't eat them all before Christmas. I always managed to sneak a few though. These are wonderful memories for me, of baking with my mom as a young girl. Today, I still love to bake cookies at holiday time, and I have 3 daughters in which to do it with. Have a wonderful holiday season, and thanks for coming by to share some memories with me.
