Favorite Cupboard Party

Hello everyone, and welcome to A Favorite Cupboard party hosted by Shiela of http://notesongs.blogspot.com/2011/04/its-time-for-heart-of-home-party.html This looks like it is going to be a fun party! Thanks Shiela for being our sweet hostess for today.Today I am sharing my doll cabinet, that we inherited from my dear father-in-law when he passed away in 1983. He was a collector of milk memorabilia, and at the time, this cabinet was filled with whimsical cow creamers. I knew at that time, this cabinet was coming home with us. (click on any photo to enlarge)
It sits in a little alcove in our dining room. I knew it would be perfect for my doll collection, which also started with a vintage doll that was given to me by my dear-mother-in-law. I also collect bears, which have also found their way into the cabinet.
This little canopy bed, was made by dear father-in-law. He had made a giant dollhouse for my mother-in-law, and had created a lot of the furniture himself, using the tiniest of tools. I cherish this little bed, and my mother-in-law also made the coverlet, canapy cover, and little pillows you see on the bed. She could tat, and crochet.
Here, are some of my Boyd's autumn bears. I love this little doll with the pouty face.
The angel pictured here, on the right, was also made by mother-in-law. Just beautiful trimmed in feathers. Oh, that Easter bunny needs to come out for Easter.
I also have started collecting a few vintage planters, and some Lefton figurines you see in this picture.
Many years ago, I used to go to doll shows. They had handmade doll artists there, who made the most gorgeous dolls. The one in blue, I was lucky to bring home from one of these shows. The others were gifts from the Franklin Mint I believe.
This is my china cabinet. I have a lot of different pretties in there, including tea cups, and things that dear mother-in-law had made. One day I plan on painting this one white. I plan on keeping the doll cabinet as is. Hubby won't let me paint it anyway. lol!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my cabinets. Please go over to Shiela's for my cabinet fun. Thanks so much for coming by, and for your nice comments.

I could look at dolls all day. I don't really "collect" them..but I do own a few and did a post on one of them recently. I have four that I just love and I leave in my living room. My kids look at me funny and think I should give them to my granddaughters..but...nope. Mine, mine, mine. For now at least. :) I also love bears...so I really enjoyed looking into your cabinet.

Ms. Debbie,
Love both cabinets! Those dolls and bears are too cute but my favoirte is your tea sets...so pretty.
My sisterlived in Colorado and now California and she hand makes dolls and has won a few blue ribbons....they're really detailed...she actually hand paints the hair and eyebrows on some of the "baby" sized ones and glues eyelashes...it's really amazing. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice message. Have a wonderful week!

Debbie, I am over visiting you from Shelia's blog (a little late), and I just cannot get over all of your collectibles! How wonderful that you not only have your FIL's cabinet, but that adorable little bed he made and that your MIL made the tiny linens for... tatting is difficult!

I loved seeing all of your cuties in the cabinet and your teacup collection as well. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Debbie!

Thank you for visiting my blog for Pink Saturday and for leaving your sweet comments. I do not have any more of the paper you are requesting. I used it all for other projects. I am sorry! You have such a beautiful blog!!! I looked at some older posts and I love everything I saw. Keep up the good work and keep sharing your pretties! Happy Belated Pink Saturday! Love Tammy
