A Hot Pink Saturday

Hi blogerettes! The temps here have been in the upper 90's for the past few days, and today is supposed to reach 100 with humidity! The whole country is experiencing high temps, and some were without power for days, due to some bad storms. My heart goes out to them, and hope that power has been restored. All we can do is try to stay cool, so I have been hibernating inside.

This is the start of a doll blanket I am making for my vintage doll cradle that dear hubby bought me for Mother's Day. I know the basics of crocheting, but didn't know how to read a pattern or create one. Thanks to my girlfriends for getting me started in actually making something. I love the pretty sherbet colors of this yarn.

Another craft I made, that I had seen on someones blog. Just textured wallpaper glued onto a can, then decorate however you wish. I used a coffee can, some ribbon, and a vintage earring. I put a jar inside to hold the flowers. I just asked for a sample, and they gave me a big piece.

Here's the cute little cradle that I received for Mother's Day. Hubby and I went antiquing, and this is what I picked out. The vintage doll is a German compostion one from 1910. It was my dear mother-in-loves.

Love the wicker design, and the rolling wheels. thanks for coming by! Be sure to visit Beverly over at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/07/a-patriotic-pink-saturday-july-7-2012.html

I LOVE old doll cradles and carriages. I found myself buying them not really for me, but for my daughter! Wish I knew how to crochet, but I'm all thumbs when it comes to that sort of thing.

Love, love the cradle. The colors for your blanket are beautiful, it will be lovely. Wish I could crochet more than a basic stitch.... I can't make heads or tails of how to read a pattern.

Hugs,

Debbie
