Holy Cow, Is This November?
Umm, okay what is wrong with this picture? Mother nature seems to be playing a trick on us. It's November, hello??? The temps has been very mild here in central NJ, 68, 71, 72 the past week. The nights are mostly on the cold side though. So, what is this little green stem thingly popping up in my garden? The spring bulbs are starting to bud!! No, no I said, go back down, it's not time yet! I hope the other ones in the garden don't pop up too, or they may freeze. I am enjoying the rather warm temps, but this is definately not November weather. It hasn't stopped me from drinking hot cocoa, or lighting my pine candles already. I even had the Christmas music on in my car too! But, this is just too wierd. Thanks for stopping by!

Memories of Pretty Buttons
What is it with vintage buttons? Why do we love them so much? Here are some I have displayed in a jar on my dresser. I especially love the white mother of pearl buttons. Some are slightly yellowed, and have the prettiest patina. some of these were my moms and I just love them.
Finding new ways to display them is so much fun! Here I put them on a sweet little butter dish, with a small candle cloche over them.

Now this beautiful wreath is courtesy of my sweet friend Shari from over at http://mycottageofbliss.blogspot.com/ I love how she made this wreath out of some her mom's favorite buttons. Isn't this a fabulous keepsake idea? Please stop over and visit her too! She is a sweetheart!
Here we have another lovely wreath. Look at how those mother of pearl buttons just sparkle! This is what I want to do with some of mine. I love the contrast of the whiter buttons mixed with the more vintage ones, that have a little yellowed patina. These ideas enable us to enjoy our buttons everyday, instead of having them packed away in cans or boxes.
Of course some of us will continue to keep our treasures in our favorite tins. That favorite one that belonged to Grandma that we played with when we were kids. A favorite thing to do on a rainy or cold day. Sorting them by colors or sizes kept us busy for hours. Maybe you had a favorite dress, and just loved the buttons. My mom always cut off the buttons before discarding any old pieces of clothing. We don't do that too much today, with thrift shops, and garage sales, and all of the recycling going on. Tea Things Tuesday

I fell in love with this darling little teacup and saucer I found at a flea market a few weeks ago. It is about 3 1/2" across. (you can click on any picture to make it larger) See the sticker still on it? $2.00!! It is Salisbury bone china from England. It has the sweetest, most delicate little roses on it, and trimmed in gold. I had to have it!

This is another sweet little cup I found at an antique store for $4. It is slightly larger than the first one. Just the prettiest little roses, and I love the muted shade of aqua mixed in. I don't know what it is about these little teacups, I just love them. This one doesn't have any markings on it, but it is so pretty.
This is a creamer my daughter found in an antique store, and bought for my birthday. It is marked Elizabethan, fine bone china England. I love the shape of the spout, and pretty roses.

Halloween Party
Hello, and welcome to the Halloween party hosted by Sharon over at http://fiberdoodlesandwhimsy.blogspot.com/ We are invited to share with you some of our Halloween decorations, a party, or just something that has to do with Halloween. I love pink and white, and have a lot of it in my house, but I decorate a little area in my dining room.
These witches are all ready in their black hats. I printed this image out from the computer onto some heavy card stock paper, and popped it into a frame with some scrap book decorations.
This little Halloween tree, I picked up at a thrift store for $4.00. I have seen some in the magazines, and on-line and they can be quite pricey. I added some orange lights, a few do dads,

Vintage Thingies Thursday
Hello, and welcome to another Vintage Thingies Thursday, hosted by Suzanne at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/search/label/Vintage%20Thingies%20Thursdays. I think this is so much fun, as I love vintage things, and enjoying sharing my finds and seeing everyone elses neat stuff. Thanks so much Suzanne for making this a weekly event.
First, I would like to share some lady head vases. Lady head vases were popular in the 50's-60's, and were sold in flower shops. There is a hole in the back of them to hold flowers.They were made by Inarco, Napco, and some just have numbers on them. Today, they are highly collectible, and can be quite pricey depending on the style and maker. They can be found in antique shops, flea markets, and e-bay. These I acquired from my in -laws who also loved to scour flea markets, and garage sales. She picked these up for a song. They are made of porcelain,
and some have very elaborate eyelashes. Some were adorned with necklaces and earrings too.
Here is a fun item hubby and I found in an antique shop last week. You probably have to be a baby boomer to guess what this is. he he (see the end of the post, and I will tell you what it is)
Here is another fun item dear daughter has modeled for us. he he This is vintage, made of layers of lace, and kind of looks like a lampshade. Can you guess what it is? It is a little cap, made to wear at night over your pin curls. You twisted sections of hair into little rings, secured them with hair clips or bobby pins, and then put on your little cap to hold them in. I thought it was neat.

Tea Things Tuesday

My first item is a teacup by Royal Albert. I am not sure of the pattern. It is just covered in luscious roses, and trimmed in gold edging. I picked this up on one of my trips to my favorite antique shops.
Inside has the prettiest roses in it too!
This teacup is a Lady Carlyle pattern. I believe this also comes in blue. I found this in Home Goods, and they had a whole set of dishes that matched in this pattern. Wow, what a lucky find!

Wow, what a lucky find!I bought 6 cups and saucers, 6 dinner plates, and the smaller dessert plates. I figured it would be perfect for an Easter dinner, because of the pastel colors. I just love them.
This pretty teapot I found at Marshall's. It was so cheap, I couldn't pass it up. It doesn't have any name on it, but I love the pattern. The pink stand I found in Burlington coat factory store. They have some of the prettiest home things in there. I have had this for a few yrs now, and I have a larger one that matches. I used them at holiday time. Vintage Thingies Thursday
Welcome to another Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by Suzanne of http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/ While I love things all pink and feminine, my kitchen is vintage country. My sweet husband built me this nice long shelf to display all of my vintage treasures.
Most of my treasures are truly vintage and not reproductions. From left to right in this picture is a set of the cutest red bowls, I bought from Walmart last year. My mom's vintage cookbook, a vintage pie tin, and a vintage ice cream scoop. The milk container is made of cardboard covered in wax. Just like the ones we used to get in school years ago. The butter container is also wax. I covered them in plastic wrap to keep them clean. These were acquired from my father-in-laws extensive collection of milk memorabilia. He used to collect all things related to milk. After he passed away, we inherited a lot of his things. The red churner was purchased a few months ago at a flea market. Of course you remember Black Jack gum. I picked that up somewhere along the way.
Here we have my mom's egg beater, a tin band aid box, cheese crock, vintage Tetley Tea can, an aluminum ice cube tray, and a vintage milk bottle, also from father-in-laws collection.
On this side we have, a vintage Hershey chocolate cardboard box, another milk bottle, a glass Jif Peanut Butter jar (they are plastic now), Saltine can, candy can, abott's Ice Cream container (cardboard coated in a shiny paper), pretzel sticks can, Oakite Cleanser (cardboard also wrapped in plastic wrap to keep clean), Marshmallow fluff glass jar ( they are plastic now too) and another pretzel tin. The peppermint bark tin is newer, but I liked it on the shelf. Maybe one day it will be vintage. lol!
